Some couples are simply effortless to photograph.
Annie and Aaron are one of those couples.
I’ve had the chance to photograph them before, so getting to spend another summer evening together for their couple photos at Cobus Creek Park in Elkhart, Indiana felt less like a photo session and more like catching up with two people I already know.
And then there’s their chemistry.
Some couples need a little direction in front of the camera. Annie and Aaron? Not so much. They have the kind of connection that makes my job ridiculously easy. The way they look at each other, laugh together, and naturally gravitate toward one another gives me so much to work with.
Cobus Creek Park is such a beautiful spot for summer portraits, especially when you want something that feels relaxed and natural.
There’s plenty of greenery, trails, open space, and beautiful pockets of nature that give you variety without making the session feel overly complicated.
For Annie and Aaron, we spent the evening moving around the park, letting the setting change around us while keeping the focus where it belonged — on the two of them.
The warm summer light, lush greenery, and laid-back atmosphere were the perfect backdrop for their session.
One of my favorite parts of photographing couples who I’ve worked with before is that there’s already a level of comfort between us.
They know how I photograph. I know how they interact. And because we aren’t starting from scratch, we can spend less time worrying about what to do with our hands and more time simply enjoying the session.
With Annie and Aaron, so much of what makes their photos beautiful happens naturally.
A look across the trail.
A laugh that wasn’t prompted.
The way they pull each other closer.
Those tiny moments between the “real” photographs are often my favorites.
I never want couple photos to feel like you’re acting out a Pinterest board.
My goal is to give couples enough direction that they feel comfortable, while still leaving plenty of room for their actual personalities and relationship to come through.
That’s especially important with couples who already have incredible chemistry.
With Annie and Aaron, I could give them a simple prompt and let them take it from there. The result is a gallery that feels romantic without being overly posed and playful without feeling forced.
It feels like them.
And I think that’s always the goal.
If you’re looking for a location for summer couple photos at Cobus Creek Park, it’s a great choice for a session that feels outdoorsy, relaxed, and connected to nature.
You don’t need an elaborate location or a complicated setup to create beautiful photographs. Sometimes all you need is good light, a beautiful stretch of nature, and two people who genuinely enjoy being together.
And if you happen to have the kind of chemistry Annie and Aaron have?
Even better.
There is something really meaningful about photographing people more than once.
Every session becomes a little snapshot of where they are in that particular season of their lives. When they come back in front of my camera, I get to see what’s changed — and what hasn’t.
Annie and Aaron still have that same easy connection I’ve loved photographing before. And getting to document another chapter for them on a warm summer evening at Cobus Creek Park was such a joy.
These are the sessions that remind me why I love photographing couples.
Not because everything has to be perfectly posed or perfectly planned, but because there’s something pretty incredible about getting to freeze the way two people naturally love each other.
And Annie and Aaron make that part very easy.
