Two years ago, I met Neckeya and Ty’Reek at Wellfield Botanic Gardens in Elkhart, Indiana, for their engagement session. We spent time wandering through the gardens and capturing the beginning of their journey toward marriage.
Fast forward two years, and we found ourselves back in that same beautiful place, this time for wedding portraits at Wellfield Botanic Gardens.
After eloping in the spring, Neckeya and Ty’Reek wanted to return to Wellfield for a relaxed summer portrait session. And honestly, I couldn’t think of a more fitting way to celebrate this next chapter.
One of my favorite things about being a photographer is getting to photograph people through different seasons of their lives.
When I photographed Neckeya and Ty’Reek’s engagement session two years ago, they were looking ahead to marriage. This time, they were already married, and there was something beautifully different about the way they moved through the gardens together.
There was no wedding-day timeline to rush through. No pressure to get from one location to the next. Just the two of them, enjoying being married and taking time to celebrate it with photographs.
That made their wedding portraits at Wellfield Botanic Gardens feel incredibly relaxed and intimate.
For their summer portraits, Neckeya and Ty’Reek chose beautiful matching lavender and cream outfits that fit perfectly with the soft, romantic feeling of the gardens.
The colors looked gorgeous against the greenery and summer blooms at Wellfield, adding a subtle touch of color while keeping the overall look timeless and natural.
The result was a gallery filled with quiet moments, movement, laughter, and those in-between photographs that feel less like posing and more like simply watching two people who are completely comfortable together.
Wellfield Botanic Gardens is such a beautiful setting for wedding portraits at Wellfield Botanic Gardens because there are so many different environments tucked into one location.
The gardens offer plenty of variety without needing to spend the afternoon driving from one location to another. You can move from lush greenery and flowers to pathways and architectural elements while keeping the session feeling cohesive.
And during the summer, everything feels especially alive.
For couples who want wedding portraits that feel romantic, natural, and connected to the beauty of the season, Wellfield is a gorgeous option in Elkhart, Indiana.
There’s something I really love about photographing couples after the wedding.
Wedding days can move so quickly. There are people to greet, places to be, timelines to follow, and a million little things happening around you.
A portrait session after the fact gives you permission to slow down.
Neckeya and Ty’Reek already had the big moment. They had already eloped and said their vows. This session was simply a chance to celebrate where they were now. Married, together, and enjoying a summer afternoon in one of the places that had already been part of their story.
And getting to photograph them in the same location where we took their engagement photos two years earlier made it even more meaningful.
From engagement photos to wedding portraits at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, this beautiful garden has now been part of two special chapters of their story.
I’m so grateful I got to be there for both.
If you’re planning an elopement, intimate wedding, anniversary session, or simply want beautiful portraits together, Wellfield Botanic Gardens offers a gorgeous backdrop in Elkhart, Indiana.
Your portraits don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed. They can simply feel like you two, together, in a beautiful place.
