Last year, while I was working with my business coach, I told her I wanted to offer something for newer photographers who are in the same spot I was when I was first starting out. When I was new, starting to take paid shoots, and building Leah Rife Photo, I felt lonely, out of place, and constantly wondered if I belonged. I would scour the internet, looking for resources to help encourage me and offer help with the questions I had. I had so much creativity and passion, yet I doubted myself a lot, wondered and cared what other people thought of this “side hustle” I was doing, and felt super awkward many times.
Reflecting on all of those feelings of the early days in my business, I was encouraged by my coach to sit down and write out a day in the life of this offering I wanted to put out there for new photographers. Friends, it was powerful. I sat and wrote and cried and wrote and smiled and wrote. I saw myself through the words I was writing, and as I described the space I wanted to create for others, it made my whole heart light up because it’s exactly what I was looking for back then.
Listen. I don’t have it all figured out, this business stuff. I’m still learning, still growing, still figuring out each challenge that comes my way. But I think I would have been further along had I been able to stop doubting myself so much early on, and start taking action and going fully after the photography dreams I had. Myself today would have so much to tell myself from those years ago and the experience I’ve been able to learn from is what I want to share with others so they can start a little ahead of where I was, to jump a little higher, to go a little farther. And that’s exactly why I wanted to create this workshop.
The Haven Workshop is a space for photographers who are building their businesses, looking for encouragement, and seeking inspiration, all while pursuing their passion of photography. It’s a safe space, a welcoming to all space, a space that feels homey and laid back.
Maybe you are just starting out, or maybe you have been doing this for a couple of years, and wondering where your dream of photography is taking you. This one day workshop will walk you through confidence building mindset work, and why that’s important in your business, marketing authentically on social media, workflow practices, and a creative, interactive shoot where you will get to pull out your camera and get those creative juices going.
There will also be time for you to receive fresh headshots, eat good food around the table, and have conversation and connection with everyone attending.
