Lifestyle Headshot Session with Derick Grant | Downtown Indianapolis

Lifestyle headshots are some really fun sessions, and near the end of last year I was able to work with Derick Grant a few times. I had worked with his family taking family photos a couple times, so I was excited to work with him for some headshots. He was looking for updated lifestyle brand photos for his business, and I really enjoyed the shoots with him. We did a variety of looks downtown Indianapolis on Monument Circle, and near the War Memorial (two of my favorite spots due to so many different textures and backdrops in one area.)

Derick is a pretty amazing person. He’s charismatic, and the type of person who you can tell honestly cares about the conversation you’re having, has a certain inspiring energy about him, and just makes you feel encouraged after being around him. That energy translated into his headshot photos. He wanted to convey the excitement and encouragement he wants to bring to others through his work in the photos, and you’ll see that in some of my favorite images from his shoot below.

After working with him a few times, I’ve also had the pleasure of sitting down with him for some conversation a couple of times. He is on his own journey of realizing his full potential, and he is all about helping others do that too. Just a couple of coffee convos with him, and I left feeling so incredibly inspired and excited to live my life with more freedom to do the things I really was passionate about.

I wanted Derick to share a little bit about him and his work in his own words, so I’ll share that here:

“My goal in life is to help people. I want to give them the inspiration and show them all that they seek on the outside in the world, is already hidden inside of them. My mission in life is to free as many people as I can from the chains of lies society has cast upon them to show them their full potential and empower them to live a life of fulfillment, peace, and joy.

That is why I started doing what I do. I took what I learned on the basketball court and in life, and now I help people with life  to transform their reality, and construct their lives the way THEY want it. This is why I do what I do.”

Derick is an author, speaker, podcaster, former pro athlete for the Harlem Globetrotters, and purpose coach. I have been so honored to photograph him and know his work and inspiration will change the world.
