I met Taylor and Ricky for their New Buffalo Engagement Session recently, and it was such a fun time. We braved the cold and got some amazing photos! I loved meeting this amazing couple!
We met downtown New Buffalo
Taylor told me she and Ricky shared their first date in New Buffalo. So it was meaningful for them to have engagement photos there. We met downtown first, and being the day before Thanksgiving. I was hopeful it would still look nice for photos, and maybe even catch some fall leaves still hanging on. New Buffalo didn’t disappoint, and there were so many cute backdrops in a short area we walked.
An outfit change and Engagement Photos on the beach
After an outfit change, we headed to the beach to get some photos, braving the freezing wind and temps. New Buffalo Beach is always a gorgeous spot, no matter the season, and the colors were so beautiful. Taylor and Ricky wanted to recreate a photo they took on their first date, and it was so much fun for their New Buffalo engagement session.
How They Met
Taylor and Ricky met in highschool, and attended prom as friends senior year and it went from there after graduation. Then they ended IU together and the rest is history! Ricky proposed to Taylor in Chicago in 2017, and you can tell how comfortable they are with each other with how much of a foundation they have built.

Ricky about Taylor: “I feel like she balances me really well. I appreciate that we can always have fun together and we have managed to stay together for almost 9 years through the toughest times of our lives.”
Taylor about Ricky: “I love how safe I feel with him, and how much he cares for me and for others. He would literally drop anything to go help any one of my friends, not just me! He is always making me laugh too- making dumb jokes, making weird faces, or doing something strange just to get me to laugh.”
I’m so excited to photograph their wedding next year, and it was such a wonderful time photographing Taylor and Ricky’s New Buffalo Engagement Session!
