When Carmella reached out to book a New Buffalo extended family photography session for her parents’ 50th wedding anniversary, I knew this was going to be such a meaningful shoot. The whole family was coming together for a celebratory weekend at their lakefront condo. This session was gifted to her parents as part of the celebration.
They’d found out about the gift earlier in the week—and had been looking forward to it ever since.
On the evening of the session, the family energy was absolutely buzzing. It was one of those perfect Michigan summer nights. Warm sun, gentle breeze, and that unmistakable feeling of legacy and love in the air.
We started with classic group portraits and worked our way through smaller combinations. Each family unit, siblings, grandkids with grandparents, and of course, romantic portraits of the couple whose love built this beautiful group.
Carmella’s parents were glowing. Fifty years of marriage, surrounded by their children and grandchildren, with Lake Michigan just down the path—it was everything a celebration of love should be.
Their family condo sat just above a lovely pathway down to the beach, where we took photos and they spent the session together. The lake was stunning, and the evening light was so pretty.
One of my favorite things about a New Buffalo extended family photography session is how naturally the joy comes through. There’s nothing quite like capturing grandparents holding hands, grandkids climbing onto laps, and generations of love in one frame.
Whether you’re celebrating a major milestone like a 50th anniversary, or simply gathering your people in one place, a family session is the perfect way to preserve the memories.
I specialize in extended family photography in New Buffalo, Michigan, and all along the Lake Michigan shoreline. These sessions are warm, heartfelt, and full of life—just like your family.
To Carmella and her family—thank you for letting me be a small part of such a big and beautiful moment.
