This family photo session in Elkhart, Indiana was especially meaningful to me. This family is the reason we moved to Northern Indiana, and it’s because this is my sister and her family! We love being close to family, and I had the honor of photographing them in our new area.
Cobus Creek Park made the perfect location
When I get an inquiry to shoot a family photo session in Elkhart, Indiana, one of my favorite spots is Cobus Creek Park! It’s minutes from my home and provides so many beautiful backdrops. I met Hannah and Jon and their girls on a gorgeous fall evening for photos. We managed to get so many good photos during our session because of all the gorgeous scenery.
Cobus Creek Park, in Elkhart, Indiana has open fields, walking trails, and water ponds full of life. It’s such a beautiful spot and I’m so grateful it’s so close to where I live!
This family photo session in Elkhart, Indiana had all of the fall vibes
Fall in the midwest is so beautiful and one of the best times for family photos in Indiana. The foliage starts to turn, the light changes to gorgeous golden, and it’s one of my favorite seasons. Hannah and Jon and their girls dressed in some really amazing fall colors, and their photo outfits were perfect. They even threw off their shoes for a few shots near the water, and we got cozy and comfortable.
I love working with families, and this one was so special. We got shots of the whole family, and mom with the kids, dad with the kids. Then we made sure to get some of the kids on their own too.
We added some unposed and creative family photos
So many families of course want the photos with everyone smiling at the camera. I love to get those shots, but I also love to get some unposed, candid shots. Even more, I love to add some creative groupings that fall outside of the normal family photo poses. We got a little creative near the end of their session. Playing with light and shadows, and adding some non-traditional poses, we got some really cool shots.
Family photos will always be so special to me, and I was so grateful to shoot with my sister and her family!
