Becca and Matthew met me recently for their engagement session at Newfields in Indianapolis. Newfields is an art museum with sprawling historical grounds and gardens with gorgeous trees and blooms. They were gracious enough to reschedule their session by one day, so we could take advantage of better weather. And what a gorgeous spring day we had!
Becca and Matthew wanted to have their engagement session at Newfields
I always love to invite couples into the planning process with me for their engagement sessions. I’ll send a questionnaire for them to fill out, and hear their preferences on locations. Becca and Matthew indicated Newfields was their first choice spot. I loved that they chose one of my favorite spots in Indy to photograph sessions. An engagement session at Newfields always makes a beautiful setting for photos with their variety of gardens and buildings.
Choosing two outfits is something I always encourage engagement session couples to do. Becca chose a beautiful red dress for her first look, while Matthew opted for a sharp button up and slacks. For their second outfit, they went casual with denim and shorts and short sleeves.
They live long-distance now, but make it work!
Hearing a little bit about their relationship was so beautiful during their engagement session at Newfields. We walked the grounds while they told me some more about themselves. Right now they are doing the long-distance thing while Matthew finishes law school and Becca is in Med School. While it isn’t easy being in two different cities, they work to see one another as often as they can.
Becca and Matthew discovered they had mutual friends while attending Purdue University. Becca ended up connecting with Matthew while she was visiting family in his hometown, and they became close after. For a good date night, they both enjoy going out for dinner and dessert. Matthew in particular loves cake, so a recent date they shared included Cake Bake, another Indy area location that is just amazing.
They love to travel and took a memorable trip to Michigan together
Their first solo trip together brought them to Traverse City, Michigan. They enjoyed exploring the area, checking out wineries, and spending time together. I loved hearing about their travels and plans for the future, and their absolute joy in their relationship.
This beautiful couple is planning a beautiful spring wedding at the Mavris next year. The Mavris is one of my favorite wedding venues in Indianapolis. I feel so honored to be photographing their special day. And I felt grateful to photograph their engagement session at Newfields and get to know them a bit more before their wedding.
Becca and Matthew: you two are full of so much joy and warmth, and it was so much fun photographing your engagement session! I hope you enjoy these previews from your session!
