This Wedding at Clayshire Castle in Bowling Green, Indiana was so amazing and full of so much intention and fun! Amanda and Zach inquired with me last year, and when I heard they were getting married at a castle, I was so interested! Castles aren’t the typical setting for midwest weddings, and I was so curious to know there was a literal castle in the middle of Indiana!
Amanda and Zach created a wedding day full of the things they loved
Wedding days should reflect each couple so uniquely. That’s exactly what Amand and Zach did with every aspect of their celebration. From the custom-dyed wedding dress Amanda wore, to Zach’s blue twill suit with an accompanying pocket watch, this couple was so unique from the start.
They shared their vows surrounded by a small group of their closest friends and family. Standing with the castle in the background, the sunny spring day felt so right for their celebration. Clayshire Castle is owned and operated by a couple who also live on site, and it has been a spot for many celebrations, medieval faires, and an operating bed and breakfast. They were in costume as they helped with the day, and it was so fun to see!
Amand and Zach each had a best friend who co-officated their ceremony. The couple walked themselves to the ceremony site, and guests stood around in them as they exchanged rings and said their vows.
After the ceremony, a custom scavenger hunt commenced on the grounds. The couple intentionally wanted a photo with each guest grouping to gift to them later – I loved that idea so much! And they mingled and enjoyed drinks and charcuterie board bites.
After photos, the guests gathered in the great hall of the castle for dinner catered by Smoke Works BBQ. They enjoyed music, drinks, toasts, and good company.

Amanda and Zach put together a celebration with wedding elements that fit them, added elements they loved, and created a beautiful day that truly reflected them. Here is a peek at their engagement session we did earlier. I love how they interacted and jumped at the chance to work with a couple creating such a unique wedding.
More and more, I’m seeing couples feeling permission to choose the wedding day elements that really reflect their relationship. They are leaving behind traditions that don’t make sense for them and building ones that do.
