For these engagement photos at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Indianapolis, I met this lovely couple, Kira and Jacob! Engagement sessions are so much fun and a great way to get to know my couples before their wedding day. Kira and Jacob are such a great duo and I loved getting to know them during their session.

Indianapolis is home to Kira and Jacob, they both work and live there, and grew up in the area. They really wanted to have engagement photos downtown, and suggested Veterans Memorial Plaza for a starting point. I loved checking out some of the beautiful locations of the plaza with them. We had great views of downtown, the Central Library, and we also shot at the War Memorial.
With stunning city vibes, this location is such a great spot for downtown Indianapolis engagement photos. The energy of the city was vibrant, and the beautiful buildings and greenery made a great backdrop for Kira and Jacob’s photos.
They met in highschool, but ran in the same circles since childhood
Kira and Jacob are highschool sweethearts, and I loved hearing that so much! They told me that later they realized they had gone to the same schools growing up, and were probably near each other as kids, but never knew! They connected in highschool, attended the same college, and have built their life ever since! Jacob proposed to Kira in the backyard of his mom’s house, and completely surprised her with it! They knew the would get married, but Jacob did a great job at popping the question when Kira least expected.
The weather was perfect for their spring engagement photos at Veterans Memorial Plaza in Indianapolis
As many photographers know, the weather can be unpredictable here in the midwest. Kira and Jacob were so flexible when we had to reschedule from earlier this spring. As luck would have it, we had a gorgeous evening for photos, and the sun and temps were perfect. For their first look, Kira wore a white floral wrap dress and Jacob rocked a green button up and khakis. They got a tad more dressy for their second look, with Jacob in a Blue suit jacket and Kira in a red patterned dress and sandals. I absolutely loved getting to know this couple a bit more and can’t even wait for their fall wedding!
