I loved these downtown South Bend Family photos I shot recently. The Deter family was such a joy to work with and I enjoyed walking around downtown South Bend with them for their session.
The summer evening was perfect for family photos
We shot this session on a summer evening in August, and lucked out with really incredible weather. It’s always a toss of the coin how this good old midwest weather will be for photo shoots, but I was so grateful we had pleasant weather for the Deter family’s session. The light was so pretty, and amazing to work with, and this sweet family was even more amazing.
We did a mix of gentle poses and candid shots
I love mixing up posing for clients, and this family was so fun to work with. They went with a lovely dressed up look for their outfits, which fit the vibe of the limestone downtown South Bend colors so well. I made sure to get groupings with the whole family, just the kids, and mom and dad together as well. In addition to the posed family shots, we got a bit creative for some fun in-between moments together.
The kids’ grandma was along to help, so we got some sweet shots of her with her darling grandchildren, a fun moment to document for sure.
Families are incredible to photograph
I absolutely love working with families. They are so much fun and full of so much LIFE. As a mom myself, I know what it’s like to watch these kids grow so fast. Knowing I can help families slow down time for a bit through photos they will cherish means a lot to me. I especially love when families are willing to get a bit more creative on locations and style of the session instead of only more posed shots. The Deter family was so lovely to work with!
