South Bend Couple Photos

These South Bend Couple photos were so much fun to photograph! McKenna and Zach were so lovely to work with, and I adored their in-home session.

We did some cozy couple photos in their home

I met McKenna and Zach at their South Bend home for photos, and loved hearing about this house they’ve made their own. It’s McKenna’s  childhood home, and now it’s theirs together. I asked what they loved about their home and this is what she said:

“We love that it’s ours, and are really proud that we worked hard to be able to buy a house this young, and we did it together. We love how cozy it is and what we’ve done to make it feel like ours.”

Some cozy living room shots

McKenna and Zach were dressed in cozy Sunday morning sweats, and we started their session in their living room. They had a perfect-sized sofa for couple shots, and then we got some photos in front of their adorable fireplace. I loved getting to hear more about them as we did their session.

I asked how they met, and this was their answer!

“We went to high school together, but Zach was a year older than me, super cute, and popular. So safe to say I was terrified to even look his direction. After Zach graduated, one of his good friends moved in directly across the street from me. So I started hanging out with him a lot in a group of friends. One night we had planned to go to dinner after a football game. He told me he was going to bring his friend Zach. Immediately I was so nervous, this cute, popular boy from high school I’ve never talked to before (besides the time he sat behind me in anatomy class the year prior) was coming to dinner with us and I would have to talk to him. He sat right next to me, just my luck, at dinner. We hit it off, not even trying or looking to develop a relationship. A couple days later he messaged me and it’s been history!”

We moved into the kitchen for some pancake photos

I always love asking couples to do a fun activity together for their in-home sessions, and they chose to have some coffee and make a couple pancakes together. It was so fun for their South Bend couple photos!

I asked them to share what drew them to each other and McKenna said “the first thing I noticed about him back in high school without even talking to him was how cute he was and his hair haha. Once we started to get to know each other I literally immediately fell in love without knowing that’s what I did. His heart is so genuine and pure. He’s so extremely caring and makes me feel safe and protected. I love how pure and genuine his heart is. He literally would never hurt a fly, but is still very protective and would do anything for me or anyone he loved. He is the absolute sweetest man and he works so hard for us.”

Zach said “How beautiful she is, her personality, and how sweet and caring she is. I love how passionate she is about everything she does, and how loving and caring she is to everyone she meets.”

We finished their session with some cozy shots in their bedroom

It’s always fun to get some bedroom shots for cozy couple photos, and their bedroom was the perfect setting. I loved how calm and peaceful this part of the session felt.

McKenna and Zach are engaged and I loved hearing about how Zach proposed! Here’s the story in their own words:

“We hosted a family Christmas party on December 16th, 2022. We had planned this party and invited just our families & one close family friend that is like an aunt to us, and her daughter. Zach really made it a priority that everyone be there! We played some games at our party and the one game we played was Catchphrase. We sat next to each other and were on opposite teams, but my mom was across from us. When it got to my mom she said “this is a question you ask” When my mom started talking Zach told me to stand up because he dropped something and I was like “be quiet I’m trying to listen!!!” (I’m competitive) but I stood up and then he said in response to my mom, “I have a good one for that” and then he got down on one knee and asked me to be his forever! Zach wanted it to be a surprise for everyone so the only people that knew were our parents. The weather was yucky the day of the party, but everyone still came and they (and me) were so glad they did because we had (almost) all of our favorite and closest people there to celebrate with us.”
