This family photo session at New Buffalo Beach in New Buffalo, Michigan was so perfect! I’ve enjoyed exploring the Southwest Michigan area after moving to Northern Indiana, and it’s been amazing. I love all the beach access points and how amazing it is to be near Lake Michigan. It was so lovely working with the Bryan family for their session!
Their family photo session at New Buffalo Beach was a mix of candid and posed shots
I asked Bryana if I could get creative for their session and move beyond the traditional, posed family shots. She said they were excited to try anything, and their family was perfect for this session. Family sessions don’t have to be so formal and posed, especially when there are young children who are active. In my recent podcast episode, I talk about this a bit, and also about having permission to make your photo session unique to you. Working to move toward this type of candid family photo session, I loved getting to be creative with the Bryan family.
Beach & ice cream family photos might be my favorite now!
Now that I’m a Michiana family photographer and South Bend, Indiana wedding photographer, I love that I’m so close to Lake Michigan and all it has to offer. Getting to take these family photos at New Buffalo Beach was so incredible. The colors and textures were so different than some of my other spots I’ve shot. I love the midwest forest and field vibes, and urban locations, but this beach was so beautiful! We wrapped up our session at Nancy’s in downtown New Buffalo for some fun ice cream shots. I loved incorporating an activity that the family could do for some additional photos that were fun and different. Nancy’s was such a perfect location, just a short distance from New Buffalo Beach.
They hadn’t had professional family photos in a few years
Bryana told me it had been a few years since they had enjoyed professional family photos, so I was honored and grateful to work with them. She and her husband have been married for almost 13 years, and they have four amazing kiddos. They are a homeschooling family from Michigan, and I loved getting to chat with her about that since Landon and I also homeschool our kids. Every family is so unique and amazing and the Bryan family was so much fun to work with!
